Full Snow Moon by Lisa Begin-Kruysman *Blog Tour Review*

Summary:

Cocky surfer Alex only cares about the future. Who cares about the things of the past like an old house or an old friend? But one February night as he recklessly takes to the road during a snowstorm, he discovers that the past may have some plans for him. When his life is saved by the troubled spirit of a local youth who perished during the historic “Blizzard of 1888,” he agrees to rescue a house from the hands of a greedy land developer. But when he enlists the help of some forgiving friends, they dig up a National Treasure… and some controversy.

With assistance from a “hottie” of an Historian and a colorful antiquities dealer, Alex hopes to ride a wave of redemption. Can he rescue a piece of local and national history, reunite his boyhood friend with his native roots and regain the respect of friends and family?

Length: 173 pages (E-book)

Publication Date: February 25th 2012 by Bradley Publishing

What a surprise this book actually turned out to be. When I was first contacted by VBT I was really grabbed by both the title and the cover which I think suits the book perfectly. I was mostly interested in reading it because it sounded like something different and provided a change of pace for me.

Full Snow Moon has elements of historical fiction, and paranormal fiction all mixed in to one neat concise 173 page e-book and it turned out to be pretty good. Since I read a lot in both genres I felt that this book was able to mesh the two together in a way. For me, my first love is history so I was particularly attracted to the historical aspect best, I thought that those parts were written particularly well.

I think that while the author obviously has a knack for historical fiction she should work on her characters a wee bit more. For me they were rather one dimensional and just didn't groove with me at all and I found myself getting annoyed with them a few times just because of their actions and what was being said. However in the end the book seemed to work out well enough despite this even though I didn't really like how quickly the book wrapped up, I think that it could have done with being another 20 pages longer to round things out a bit more but that's just me.

I would recommend this book to people who want a shorter read, it's perfect for commuting since it's only 173 pages long and both fans of history and paranormal novels should find this to be a quick read.
